Advice please!

O.K. it's time to do this...I have got to get into serious potty training mode. She's ready, I'm not. Lazy about it, I guess. Anyway. I need some suggestions. I just don't know where to start. A book, positive reinforcement. What? Anything!!!! Help!

  1. Here's how I started with Dylan and Kaylee. I rolled up my rug and put it away for about 6 months. I went to K-mart and got some training underwear. I didn't go back to diapers once I put the underwear on them. They do still wear a pullup at night though. We went to the potty as soon as we woke up. We then went every hour on the hour. I made up a song and gave them a small piece of candy if they went. M&M's work great for my bunch. They even got to pick a color which helped with learning different colors. I just made sure to keep asking them if they had to go potty. Eventually they started telling me when they had to go. We just got to bring our rug back out. We haven't had an accident in quite some time. Just remember that once you start DON'T stop. Good Luck!

  2. I just put underwear on Jake and put a plastic cover over the mattress. He only had one accident but I had to let him pee in his pants a few times before he got the hang of it. Its frustrating at times but you can do it!! : )

  3. With Bryson I'd set the "potty alarm" (oven timer) for every 30 minutes and when he'd hear it go off he'd yell "POTTY ALARM" and head to the bathroom to try. Eventually he started telling me when he needed to go. He still wears a pull-up at night though.

With Kynsley bribery was the only thing that would work. I KNEW she knew exactly what to do but she's just so hard headed she would do it. I'd set the alarm and she'd sit on the potty for 15 minutes then as soon as I'd take her off she'd go. So...out came the Dorothy shoes and I told her that Dorothy has sent them for her as a gift when she learned to potty like a big girl. Literally the next day she was in panties and has only had maybe one accident. She's never needed a pull-up at night either. So I think you'll probably just have to try a few things and see what works for Allie. Every kid's different with what tricks will work:)
