Still decorating...

I know, I know. We have been living here since March and I am still decorating and still have more to do. Here's some pics of some recent projects.

ALLIE'S ROOM

These are the letters I orders off ebay and waited on for like 2 1/2 months...

A friend of mine painted the flowers and vines on this after I put the vinyl letters on it. Thanks Joy!

Matt and I made this cornice and I had a lady make the curtain...

This is just a shelf for some goodies...

Amelia painted this table and chairs for me...

Toy chest and hair bow holder...

I painted the bed and louver(sp) doors...

DESK

I painted the desk and doors at this station for our desk and bought the chair at Bargain Jungle...

OUTSIDE

The lady who made my curtains made my outside cushions and the Adorandak (sp) chair is one of the chairs Dana gave me that I painted...

I saved up for a little while to get these willow chairs...

Tea anyone?

Wednesday, Allie and some of the young girls from church attended at tea party at Belles and Beaus. There were a few other girls there as well including cousin Ava. I think the girls had a lot of fun. Allie ended up wearing most of her "tea," actually water (thanks Lacy). It was a very cute party and I am glad we were able to attend.

Here Allie looks like she is just sucking on the cup. She really liked the mini-tea set. Hint, Hint...Christmas is on it's way.

Here is Anna Beth and Allie...what big girls they are becoming.

Crazy eyes!!! By the way, this is Allie's Phi Mu dress. Sisters, do you think she can wear this to rush in about 17 years? Anyway, this is what it reminds me of, pink/ lions...

Yard Sale Flop

Never have I left a yard sale a rich woman.

It doesn't matter the goods, people just don't seem to want my stuff. I think I have good taste. Right? I even put some stuff in that is basically new. Whatever the case they don't want it.

Anyway, as you can tell, the two-day yard sale was a flop for me. I walked away with $24. You heard me right, a TWO-DAY yard sale and $24 is all I got to show for it.

BUT... I can't lie, I did dwindle away some of my profits on some of the other goods at the yard sale. But it was still a flop.

We had a good time anyway...Thanks Erica and Jim for hosting. How about sharing the wealth?

For some reason this is the only pic I have.

Anna Beth is 2!!!

Saturday we went to the duck pond in Athens to celebrate Anna Beth's second birthday. We were about an hour late due to a nap and a busy morning but better late than never, right? The girls didn't seem to mind and really had a good time together.
Hope you had a great day Anna Beth!

It was hard to get a good pic here...

There's nothing like chasing some ducks, now is there?

It's been a while!

These are some pics from our night out. We ate at Conner's for Will and Katie's rehearsal dinner and it was a lot of fun. We sat with Matt and Erica Sirten. Erica refused to be photographed. She is pregnant. So here's the rest of us.

Don't ask...

Thursday afternoon I wore this lei for hours. It was a party favor from Kynsley Looney's party. I put it on for some reason and just wore it and wore it and wore it. Even through a visit from a friend. She probably thought I was nuts. Pass on the meds...I am losing my mind.

Meet Polly Anne

This is a piece of art I recently bought for Allie's room to keep her hairbows organized. Well, I think she's done gone and made friends with it. I really think she talks to this thing and when I get her up from bed she wants to go over to it and get hairbows (particularly a red one) and put them in her hair or mine. Is it possible that she thinks she is talking to a person? Sweet child :)

Fun with Nana and Papa

My parents want to start having Sunday lunch or Saturday supper about twice a month so that we can all get together like my sis and I were used to growing up. I think it's great to carry on family traditions like that. Here are a few pics from this past Sunday.
For your info. my mom goes all out. She always puts out a big spread. We had roast, chicken and dressing, pintos, sweet potatoes, turnip greens, boiled eggs, mac and cheese, corn, cornbread and I am probably forgetting a few things. You get the picture.

Happy Birthday Kynsley!

Allie and the Birthday Girl!!

Allie loved the pizza!

I love that we are getting so many invites to birthday parties lately. We recently joined a new congregation with a lot of little tots and I am so happy for Allie. She needs to be around kids her age. And, since we don't do MMO, this is great.
Saturday we went to Kynsley Looney's birthday party and Allie had a blast. Of course I was nervous because it was a big pool party and Allie didn't have swimmies with her and I didn't plan to get in the pool. Lessons learned...Always come prepared for whatever and don't count on much adult conversation. At this age, especially at the pool, all eyes must be on the kiddos :)
Allie has fun anywhere she goes. I am glad she has that spirit. I hope she continues to be a light in the crowd, a person other people are happy to be around.

This is just an Allie and mom pic. You'll notice throughout the blog that this is mine and Allie's pose. It's the usual.

Two milestones...

Maybe. I don't know if milestones is the correct word but whatever. Next weekend is Will H. and Katie K.'s wedding and since Matt is in the wedding we get two nights out alone. Yipee! Milestone #1. I can't say that we have even been out to eat alone, at night, in the 17 months of Allie's life. So, this will be interesting. We just don't know if Allie could handle the late nights. She is not much of a night owl.
Milestone #2. Allie might be spending the night away from home for the first time. I am ready for it and excited about it. I am also anxious about it because as any good mother would, you worry. But, I am sure she will be well taken care of. Once it happens once, it'll be a piece of cake.
Anyway, looks like it could turn out to be a busy week ahead for us. Shopping, cleaning, yard sales, parties and fun!!!

Swimming and reminiscing

Yesterday, my longtime friend Amy Brooks Chandler had me and Allie over to swim at her mom's house. It was a lot of fun and we got to see several old friends. Leigh Pettus Davis, whom I have also been friends with since high school, and her son Coleby were there as well as Dana Springer and her kids.
Amy's brother got married over the weekend so we had some yummy leftover rehearsal dinner food and got to chat and have fun.

Before we got wet in the $3 swimsuit.

Why can't I get in on the action?

One thing I miss about working in the media is knowing everything that is going on around here. Just the other day, Stephen Baldwin was in town. Where was I??? As hard as it was to work in the news business, sometimes I miss knowing what is going on when I hear sirens, see a helicopter or see a large crowd.
The hours was really the hard part, the work (at times) was rewarding. Maybe one day I'll get to do it again. For now, I guess I'll be a rubbernecker.

Aunt Heather, may I spend the night?

Allie and I went to Jordan and Heather's for a photo shoot today and Aidan and Allie looked to be having a good time together. Looks like a slumber party is not too far in the future...

Bracelets and a Quad

I haven't posted a lot lately but we have been busy. This week Allie got her first quad. Like father like daughter, I guess. Daddy loves four-wheelers. This was daddy's idea and she just getting familiar with it. Hopefully she'll master it soon.

Here she is with some bracelets I picked up for her at Wal-mart. She has been playing with them since yesterday. Hopefully she is going to really be a "girly-girl." She already loves her purses, just like me. My mom tells me of a story when I was four I would carry around like a hundred (literally) purses and change purses and five of my favorite shirts.

Thanks

Thanks to all for your advice. I have decided to continue two naps a day for as long as she'll take them. This week, so far, she has done well. I'll keep you posted. My little girl is growing up soooo fast.

Advice

Allie has been a two-nap a-day girl for some time now but recently I have had some days she'd take two and some days she wouldn't. She is usually good to take the morning nap but not the afternoon. So I decided to swap to one nap a day in the afternoon only and see how that went. Well, she has been really tired. So, maybe this is premature and she needs to atleast try two naps a day. What do you all think? At what age did you swap to one nap a day. What time do they go down and how long do they sleep? What time do they get up in the mornings and what time do they go to bed at night?

Allie usually goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 p.m. and gets up for the day between 6:15 and 7:15 a.m. Just a bit of info.

Tribute to Michael

This is how I'd like to remember the King of Pop. The way he looked physically and with the musical and cultural power he held in the pawn of his hand. Michael was never found guilty of any crime and regardless of your opinion... in America, a man is innocent until proven guilty. By no means do I approve of his lifestyle but-- admit it, he is a true music legend. It brings tears to my ears watching how tragic his life had become and the tragedy behind his death. I am writing this because I feel moved to and I will remember him and the road he paved for pop culture. This is one of the "Do you remember where you were when this happened?" kind of moments. He is like the Elvis of my generation and regardless of your music taste you remember his music, how it related to your life and the memories it helped create. I love his older music like Bad, Beat It and Billie Jean but I remember hits like You Are Not Alone, Black or White, Remember the Time and Scream coming out during the MTV music video years, the high school and junior high years of my life. So, to all of my followers, remember this, watch the coverage...this is one of the things you'll be telling your kids and grandkids about. Save the newsclippings and magazines, you'll want to look back on it one day.

The Fourth Part III

Saturday evening we went to David and Janet Deason's for an ice-cream supper. It was lots of fun. Thanks for the invite.

Matt dropped me and Allie off at 8 p.m. for bedtime. He continued the night with a fireworks show at Jordan and Heather's. Man what a weekend:)

The Fourth Part II

Saturday for lunch we headed to Pauline's for stew and potluck. It's a tradition and fun for the family, Allie and Ava had a big time screaming and running around. Here's a few pics from the day.
